How To Choose An Area Rug For The Living Room

How To Choose An Area Rug For The Living Room – I am often asked how to choose the right rug for under the dining room table, under the bed, in the entryway, and really any area! And while we’re on the subject, I believe in one design rule: you must choose the right rug for your space! I have an old blog about choosing the right rug (here) – well, Joanna Gaines also changed her approach from choosing a small rug for the scale and furniture of the room to the right rug. Let me show you some of my tips from some of the past changes we’ve made.

We tried two different rugs to change my sister’s bedroom! The photo above is the 8×10 charcoal rug that I originally ordered, but it was not available when the photo was taken. So I took the photos with a 6×9 light rectangle, too small for the space, it’s nice to see both light and dark verses.

This is a small room, but a great example of how we converted the rug to fit the size of the room. If you go too big, everything will seem floaty and ungrounded. I had this rug in our living room and while I loved the color, the rug was too small for a high traffic area and had an edge that people could step on when they walked into our house (the rug ripped. Quick). I recommend a rug like this for a bedroom or a living room that doesn’t get a lot of traffic.

We switched to this rug (I gave the top one to a friend for a makeover). This rug is a little big, I like a 6×9 in our living room, but sometimes you have to go with the size of the rug you have, so here we have a 7’6″x9’6″. This new rug is silkscreened – I thought it was a hanging rug online, I was totally fooled. But the price is reasonable. Also, I don’t have to worry about the screen being crowded when printing.

I don’t have many pictures of the dining room kitchen table or the rug. But if you want to do that, a good rule of thumb is to make sure the chair is sitting on the carpet when you pull it out. I think it’s a personal choice whether to play rugby under the table or not. I would recommend taking a rag with you to easily clean up any debris!

I always follow the same rules for the dining room as for the home office. You want your desk chair to rest on the carpet when you remove the chair from the desk. Find a rug in my home sister’s office Fix it here.
