How To Pick Curtains For A Bedroom

How To Pick Curtains For A Bedroom – Welcome to another episode of “Ryan can’t make a design decision without writing an entire post.” This week’s dilemma is all about window treatments, so you can expect a roller coaster of emotions, and of course a healthy dose of anxiety and fear of making the wrong choice. Fun awaits.

The last time we talked about my living/dining room, I was so young and naive that I thought deciding on a paint color would be our biggest hurdle. We have received We have received We have received Until now, I’ve spent weeks blindly wishing it was easier. My problem is that I have a small room and two windows (well, technically 3) within 8 feet of each other that need window treatments. And, surprise! We painted and we loved it. So again, here’s the layout:

As you can see, we have a nice wide window behind the TV and two corner windows that hold my beautiful new desk (from Sunbeam Vintage). Having put this part of the design process on hold as much as possible, the window has been open and exposed for over a year. Curtains can be hard to shop for, but after months of searching, I’ve narrowed down my options (for now). Here he is:

One Room, Many Windows? Pro Tips For Choosing Window Treatments

I know someone will complain that these aren’t blackout curtains, but let me explain why. I got a significant amount of natural light in the room I wanted, and I was worried that blackout curtains would make the room too dark. This area is also where I work, so the last one should be in a movie theater. Watching TV during the day is difficult, but cutting down on TV use isn’t a bad thing. The corner where my desk sits gets the most sun and at certain times of the day

. So, I love thick curtains there so I can finally brighten up the living room without sunglasses (true story).

Well, I can’t wait to talk about colored curtains. I fell in love with the elegant shape and drapes. I wouldn’t call curtains a dream, but they really are. I love the look combined with the diamond pattern which has a very special subtle design. My only concern is how they match with our existing living room rugs. This rug is colorful and has a hint of purple so it can work well or really clash when sanding…should I take a splash?

This option is probably my favorite (although it’s obviously my friend Rocky’s). Here are my favorite dreamy curtains this time in this beautiful muted green with simple olive green linen curtains. Going monochromatic with green can be very cool and calming for the workplace, and it gives you more freedom to play with art and decor.

How To Pick Window Treatments Like An Interior Designer (my Ultimate Guide!)

When I write about my living and dining rooms, I think between these mustard velvet curtains or these matte velvet curtains. Of course, a lot has changed since then, but what hasn’t changed is how I envision these crushed velvet curtains and paint color matching. I think they really brighten up a space and complement our old world art and decor very well. Living room curtains are very simple but still have special details with tufts and subtle designs that I love. This is Rocky’s top pick and if that’s your favorite too, I wouldn’t blame you because he has good taste.

In the spirit of designing for real life, as the ever-brilliant Arlene encourages, I want to assure you that I considered Roman shades for corner windows for practicality. I was told that it would be annoying to have long curtains where my desk is, but after a lot of persuasion, I came to the conclusion that they would be comfortable because I love the way the curtains look. The table is very light and easy to move and has enough space so it doesn’t have to be flush with the wall. With some straps, I can easily pull it to the side to let in the sun when needed. 🙂

So there you have it. If you’ve made it this far and are wondering why I don’t have all the matching curtains, it honestly hasn’t crossed my mind until now. We got it! I think we always imagined fitting them to add more style and dynamism to the space. As always, I’d love to hear from you! Which is your favorite choice? I want to pick your brilliant brain. xx

Whether you want to show off your curtains or use stylish hardware to hang your curtains, there are many different designs that you may want to consider.

Curtains always stretch from floor to ceiling, are heavier than blinds, and the lining makes them more opaque. When closed, curtains block natural light from entering the room.
