What Is The Richest Place In America – It’s no secret that the American economy is driven by cities. The coronavirus has forced many major metro areas to shut down, halted all non-essential human activity and sent unemployment to record highs. With many countries now considering shutdowns, we think it’s time to measure the importance of American cities to the nation’s GDP.
We obtained data for our forecast from the US Bureau of Economic Analysis for 2018, the most recent year for which we had complete data. We created a three-dimensional map where the peaks show the gross domestic product (GDP) of each metro, adjusted for inflation in 2020. The result of a special analysis of the map of the American economy on the eve of the Corona crisis.
What Is The Richest Place In America
Our map shows the national economy in a selected number of urban areas. New York stands head and shoulders above the rest, generating $1.77T in annual GDP, well ahead of runner-up Los Angeles at $1.05T. The greater New York area is richer than all of Russia. Many of these cities are wealthier than the rest of the country, as our previous research has shown. The top 10 metros alone account for more than 37% of the total economic output of all Americans, roughly $6.15T. It’s very big, if these cities leave the US and build their own country, they will have the third largest economy in the world.
Top 15 Richest Cities In The World 2023
To put the map into context, the top metro areas have seen their wealth increase significantly in recent years. GDP in New York increased from 1.43T in 2016 (not adjusted for inflation) to around $1.77 (as of 2018 adjusted in 2020). Los Angeles also increased from $885 billion to $1.05 billion. But San Francisco had the biggest growth compared to other cities, from seventh to fourth place, from $406 billion to $549 billion, north of 35% growth in two years.
One of the most interesting ways to think about this type of analysis is to think about how the coronavirus will evolve and restructure the economy. Take San Francisco as an example. Filled with tech workers and software engineers, San Francisco is seeing an exodus of people from the Bay Area as companies increase their workforces to work remotely, sometimes indefinitely. This put downward pressure for the first time in recent history on houses and apartments, rather than redistributing workers across the country. Smaller cities should benefit from this and the GDP of large metros may be reduced.
