When you buy a rug, the first thing you should consider is the size, shape and texture of the room. And feel low, and the same thing goes for an oversized area rug. That’s why it’s so important to make measurements.
The Rug Size Guide: The Easy Way To Choose The Right Rug For Your Spac
Depending on how you want to arrange your furniture, there are different design options that you can choose for the rug. The three main design features of carpets include: only the front legs on the carpet, all the furniture legs on the carpet, or the entire furniture except the coffee table (use the view we created below for reference). If you choose all the furniture apart from the coffee table, make sure that the rug is the width of your sofa.
Once you think you’ve decided on a design and size, you can use painter’s tape to mock up the rug to help you visualize how the rug will look in your room.
You will use a similar method when choosing a rug for your bedroom. Be sure to consider the shape of the room, pay attention to where the doors are in the area, and take care of any furniture in the room (ottomans, end of bed benches, etc.). If you have a bench or Ottoman at the end of your bed, you’ll want to make sure your rug is big enough to sit on and at least 12 inches beyond.
