Awesome Color Scheme With Beige Carpet
Shawn has always made fun of me because I hate carpets, but I really want all wood floors.
Hear me out – the carpet is ugly and dirty. Hard to clean! The carpet is much easier to replace.
Also, carpet is often very neutral (as it is difficult to change). A rug is a better choice for bringing color and texture to a room!
I have spent a lot of time virtual and real buying rugs. And while choosing the right size rug is one of the most important parts of choosing a rug, color is just as important!

Carpets are a big part of any room – the floor is an important part of any room’s space!
We recently picked up this rug from Wayfair for our living room. I chose light beige because the floor is black and the walls in the room are dark.
I chose a blue patterned rug because I wanted some structure and texture. Interesting and blue will stick with our accent color!
The geometric pattern and subtle texture of this rug give it an instant boho vibe, which is a look we’re hoping to achieve in this room.
Tips For Choosing The Right Carpet Color For Your Family Room
I really love this rug and it inspired me to talk about choosing the right color rug for your space.
The first thing you need to do is choose a mood for your room. Is your farmhouse stylish? Modern? boho? Choice? Traditional?
My best tip is to search pinterest for the name of your style + rug. Scroll through and find a communal rug that fits your style.
It’s not the be-all and end-all (although you might just see the perfect rug!), but narrowing down the rug style will guide you toward the color palette.

Write down the features you like – specific textures, materials, colors, color combinations or patterns. Take this list with you when you shop!
Now look at your room. Unless you’re decorating a room from scratch, you have existing items to work with. This can include wall paint, flooring, furniture and accessories.
Find available colors in your area. If the room is mostly one shade, you can match it or you can choose a complementary color.
If your room has a lot of colors, you should narrow down your search to a few colors that match your color scheme.
How To Choose A Rug Color
If possible, get a swatch of your color – eg. Pillowcases or color samples – when purchased from you.
It’s important to choose a rug that fits your lifestyle. Carpet material has a lot to do with durability, but color is also important.
I’m not saying you can’t have a crisp white carpet one day, but be realistic about what will and won’t work with your life to avoid disappointment.
You also need to decide if you want the rug to blend in with your decor or stand out. A multi-colored or patterned rug is always eye-catching.
How To Choose The Right Rug
If your room has bold focal points—an accent wall, a large fireplace, a colorful headboard—stick with something more neutral. If your room seems boring – the carpet is the perfect place to bring courage.
It doesn’t matter if the rug is lighter or darker than your sofa – you just need a little contrast. Unless you have a monochromatic home, look for something with at least 2 different shades.
Imagine taking a black and white photo of your rug + sofa side by side. In gray mode, you want the colors to be distinctly different!
If you choose a multi-colored rug, you should match the secondary or tertiary color with the sofa or other large pieces of furniture or equipment. This provides some contrast while the objects still flow together.
What Color Rug Goes With A Grey Couch? Best Way To Match Colors
The carpets in your home can certainly match, but they don’t have to. Instead of getting 5 rugs, focus on an iridescent color scheme and similar feel to make sure the pattern flows from room to room.
Finally, choose the color or pattern of the carpet that you like the most! However, using the above decision factors, you can choose the survey!
One caveat about buying rugs online – many times returns are not free. Be sure to clarify this before ordering a set of rugs in hopes of testing them out. Trust me on this!!

A good rug is comfortable, plush and makes the room warmer and cozier. But with so many colors and styles to choose from, choosing the right rug color for your living room can be a challenge. In this article, I give you 8 tips on how to choose the perfect carpet color that will complement your living room and create an inviting atmosphere.
Living Room Carpet Ideas
When choosing a rug color for your living room, you want to make sure it matches the existing color scheme. Consider the color of your walls, furniture and accessories. Choose a carpet color that matches the existing color in your living room. For example, if your living room is decorated in neutral tones, choose a carpet color with the same shades. This will create a cohesive look in your living room. Make sure the rug matches the rest of the room.
Also look at the color of the floor in the room. The carpet color scheme for a house with dark hardwood will be different than a house with beige carpet.
Recently, retro rugs have become very popular because they come in many different colors that you can easily bring into the room. They also have a rough pattern so that the mattress does not overdo it
Tip: A good place to start is to make a mood board with colors, sofas, coffee table, etc., which is a picture of all the elements in the room. If you are just replacing the carpet, it is easier to see it on the computer before you do it with the carpet.
How To Choose The Right Rug: Color, Style, And Staying Power
If you’re not sure which color to choose, choose a neutral. Neutral rugs can match all colors and styles of furniture. Shades of beige, gray and cream are good choices for neutral rugs. These colors can also create a calming effect in your living room, making it a great place to relax after a long day. I used this rug in my own living room to feature the paneled accent wall in this long living room.
If your living room is decorated in neutral colors, you can add bright or bold colors. Look for rugs in bright colors like blue, green or pink that can add personality and life to your living room. A pop of color can also create a focal point in your living room and draw attention to the rug. Also, try different styles. A rug with a bold geometric pattern will scream bolder than a dull rug.
The size of your living room can also influence your choice of carpet color. If your living room is small, consider choosing a lighter-colored rug that can make the room feel larger. For large living rooms, darker rugs can create a cozy and intimate atmosphere. In general, choose a rug that fits the size of your living room and the furniture in it.
– Choose a rug that borders 10-12 inches of flooring (whether it’s hardwood, vinyl, tile, or even carpet). A rug that is too big will always look awkward and should not hug the wall.
Living Room Rug Tips
– Try to place the front of the sofa at least 2 feet above the carpet. To create a more intimate space, place all furniture on the carpet.
– Don’t be afraid to tap the size of your rug on the floor to get a feel for the different rug sizes. Masking tape is a versatile tool in home design.
The material of the carpet can also affect the color. For example, wool tends to have deeper and richer colors, while synthetic rugs tend to have lighter and brighter colors. Also consider the texture and feel of the rug. A fluffy rug in a neutral color can add coziness and appeal to your living room.
