Largest Religion In The World By Population
“Top 10” lists are often helpful in presenting and highlighting data. For example, the two countries with the largest Christian and Muslim populations illustrate differences in concentration, diversity, and expected change between the world’s two largest religions.
How Africa Is Changing Faith Around The World
Both lists show that the world’s Christian population is more concentrated in large Muslim population centers than the worldwide Christian population. In fact, nearly two-thirds (65%) of the world’s Muslims live in the 10 most Muslim countries, while only 48% of the world’s Christians live in the 10 most Christian countries.
It has a larger Christian population than the 10 largest countries, accounting for just over a third (35%) of the world’s Muslims. Almost twice as many Christians (1.2 billion) as Muslims (609 million) live in countries where their religion is not on the top 10 list.
Many countries with the world’s top 10 Muslim or Christian populations have large (and in some cases larger) populations of other religious groups. In India, which has the second largest Muslim population, Islam is the minority religion (15% of the population) and Hinduism is the majority. Nigeria, which has the world’s sixth largest Christian population (87 million), also has the world’s fifth largest Muslim population (90 million).
The list also shows how far the population centers of these religions have moved from their historical and traditional centers. The five countries with the largest Muslim populations are in South and Southeast Asia or sub-Saharan Africa, not the Middle East. The three countries with the largest Christian populations are not in the Middle East or Europe, but in the United States.
Population Density And Religion Of England And Wales
In total there are 2.3 billion Christians and 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide. The gap is expected to close by 2060, when the Pew Research Center estimates there will be 3 billion Christians and nearly 3 billion Muslims. This is because Muslims are on average younger and have more children than Christians.
By 2060, the percentage of global Muslims living in the countries with the 10 largest Muslim populations is expected to be slightly lower than today (60% vs. 65%). Meanwhile, the proportion of Christians living in the 10 countries with the largest Christian populations is expected to remain the same (48%).
The 2060 list for Muslims and Christians is expected to change in other ways as well. By 2060, India will overtake Indonesia to become the country with the largest Muslim population. However, India’s Muslim population remains a minority religious group (19%) in a Hindu-majority country.
The United States, the country with the largest Christian population, is expected to remain at this position in 2060. Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya are expected to be added further down the list, while Russia, Germany and China will be dropped from the ranking. Top 10.

But which religions will be most prevalent in 2050 and 2100? The Pew Research Center attempted to answer this question through research. According to this study, the number one religion (by group) in 2050 will still be Christianity. The population will increase from 2.17 billion to 2.92 billion in 2010. Absolute growth, the percentage of the Christian population will remain constant from 2010 to 2050. In fact, from 31.4 percent of the total population in 2010, it will reach 31.4 percent in 2050. But the Muslim population is growing. It will increase from 23.2 percent in 2010 to 29.7 percent. By 2050, about 3/10 of the population will believe in this religion.
Christianity will be the most widespread religion in the world in 2022. But what is the oldest religion? Answering this question is not easy. In fact, most of them were born before the discovery of recorded history 5,000 years ago. According to various sources, Hinduism is the oldest religion in the world. Born 4,000 years ago, Hinduism is still one of the most important religions in the world. The history of Hinduism brings together many religious traditions that developed especially in the subcontinent. These cultures and traditions together make it the oldest religion in the world.
