What Doterra Oil Is Good For Itching – Let me start by telling you to do what you know is best for you. Tick bites should not be taken lightly. You should carefully monitor your situation to make sure it is not serious. Usually a tick bite is just an annoying itch. However, other times it is much more serious and will require more attention.
This is my story about ticks. Late summer in Tennessee, on a nature walk in the woods, I made a huge mistake. I couldn’t resist the lure of being right on the water and it reminded me why you want to stay on the main road. After leaving the road, I entered a nest of micro-ticks. My legs were covered with hundreds of them. I had about 50 tick bites on each leg that were so itchy I was going crazy. It doesn’t seem fair that something so small could cause so much pain! I don’t think I’ve ever had so many ticks at once. Luckily they didn’t make me sick. At least it was a really good experiment to test which essential oils really help against tick bites.
What Doterra Oil Is Good For Itching
I narrowed it down to lavender, lemon and geranium as my favorites. You can use just one, combine all three, apply topically, or take the oil in a capsule for longer-lasting itch relief. If an itch attack hits, I apply the oils topically and take a drop of each in a vegetable capsule with flaxseed oil.

Luckily, as I always try to take lavender essential oil with me, I was able to put a few drops on a wipe to soothe the itch and get rid of several ticks until I could get home. the House.
Once home, I used an alcohol wipe to remove the ticks. These ticks are small enough that alcohol will kill them on contact. Alcohol also relieved some itching and irritation.

If you don’t have lavender, another great choice is lemon essential oil. Itching from a tick is suspected to be related to germs left on your body after the bite. Lemon essential oil has been studied for its ability to kill a variety of fast growing germs. (1) This makes it a versatile oil for various needs. To test its effectiveness in soothing tick itch, I quickly mixed a bottle of lemon and castor oil together, applied it to my legs, and was relieved that the itch stopped almost immediately.

Another of my favorite essential oils is geranium. I love its feminine rose scent and often use it as a perfume or in place of an underarm deodorant. Geranium, which I discovered out of curiosity, is a very effective pain reliever against tick bites. Some of the bites started to itch, I just applied some geranium as a scent and bit the tick bite a little. To my relief, it worked! As an added benefit, there is plenty of anecdotal evidence that geranium essential oil is also an effective tick repellent. I will definitely try and not make the stubborn mistake of being unprepared to repel ticks the next time I am in the woods. Being able to apply one of my favorite essential oils, enjoy nature, and avoid ticks is an amazing combination!
Scientific research supports the use of essential oils to soothe insects and ticks, as well as repel them.
