We’ve also spent every summer in Colorado for as long as I can remember, and if you have a father who loves to drive, we’ve spent a lot of time in his black Bronco as he winds up and down the mountains. Armed with a bottle of oil, I went to visit the sick on board the ship, rubbing them lightly from time to time to relieve their suffering. One man had the worst time I’ve ever seen and told me that he was already on pills that didn’t work and that he didn’t “believe in voodoo” rejecting my oils. But his wife came up to me and asked me to borrow a bottle and apologized and later came up to thank me and said she was amazed at the difference. His nausea was significantly reduced, he lay down on the couch, swallowed his pills and slept the rest of the journey, which for most people was a real hell.
It may not be the perfect solution for everyone, but for me and this guy, this essential oil blend is the perfect way to reduce motion sickness. I highly recommend trying it in a more relaxed setting, like getting in a car and then going on a 3 hour ocean ride or, God forbid, a big rollercoaster ride, just to make sure it works well for you. You can adjust the essential oils in the blend to work best for you. I have found that peppermint works best for my nausea, which is why this concoction is heavy on it, but I also carry a bag full of mint with me, which I suck on when something settles my stomach. My sister has found great relief from ginger, but I can’t stand the taste or smell of it. If you don’t like the smell of mint, you can easily replace it with ginger essential oil.

Since my bottle is 10 ml, this means that at maximum capacity it can hold 10 ml x 20 drops or 200 drops. And since we need to dilute the essential oils with a carrier oil, we only want to fill the bottle about 50% with the essential oil blend, which means cutting my number in half.
Our formula is made up of 6 different essential oils including Lavender, Peppermint, Frankincense, Myrrh, Ylang Ylang and Chamomile. I worked out a ratio that seems to me the most suitable: 5 drops of lavender and peppermint oils for every 3 drops of each of the other oils separately.
