We went last week and even though I went several times I managed to pick up a few tips that I want to share with you for your next trip.
Tips for Schlitterbahn #1: Go straight to the parks when they open and start at Schlitterbahn East. We arrived a little before 10:00 am and went straight to the parking lot. They didn’t open the doors so we had a chance to use the bedroom. We want to go to Surfenburg to start handling the lines while they are small, especially for Master Blaster and WolfPack, who used to wait for hours in the past.
Tips for Schlitterbahn #2: Grab a table in the shade when you first arrive and set up base camp. The good thing is that there is a lot of shade throughout the Schlitterbahn! There are lockers but we tend to put our things outside, no one has a problem with that. The base station makes it easy to find everyone and a meeting place.
Schlitterbahn Tips #3: Don’t leave your kids at home! There are a lot of children sliding throughout the park! I have taken him to Schlitterbahn since he was 2 years old and he always found something to play with. From pirate ships with shiny slides to sparkling water features, it has helped build their confidence to try big things with their siblings. Tips for Schlitterbahn #6: Check out the cabins you can rent in Surfenburg! Now there are special areas in all the parks to avoid people. So maybe this isn’t more of an FYI tip – if I had known about them I would have signed up for one sooner. It’s for big parties or big families!
Tips for Schlitterbahn #7: Spend the morning in Surfenburg & Tubenbach then go to Schlitterbahn West in the morning. The Original Park has tons of tree shade and the water is cooler because it is a river. There seems to be room for rides and water sports – the perfect place to spend a hot afternoon.

Tips for Schlitterbahn #8: Set a time for everyone to meet at a central location/base camp. We learned this valuable lesson when our 2 children did not return for several hours. Make sure someone in the group wears a watch and everyone sets a time to meet.
Tip for Schlitterbahn #9: Sunscreen and shoe polish are your friends. Many days and many walks: take care of your skin and feet!
Tips for Schlitterbahn #10: Take it out for the weekend and stay in one of the treehouses. When you stay at the resort, admission includes parking for your family for both days and you have the first hour of parking to yourself!
Good to Know: Sunscreen includes: Many unlimited zones; drink it cooler (no bottles or alcohol); There is a closet for valuables; go there quickly; weekdays are less crowded during summer

The best way to beat the heat is to float around the fake German wall in a lazy river in a shiny plastic tube, or jump into the pool at 20 miles per hour in a tube. Lucky for us, wherever you are in Texas, you’re never too far from a water park. Here are the 10 best in the state.
Texas’ OG water park, Schlitterbahn opened in 1979 with four water slides on the Comal River. Today, the park between San Antonio and San Antonio offers more than 50 water attractions that are divided into two parts of a large 70-hectare park. The original section, home to Castle Schlitterbahn, has slides, slides, seven children’s pools, and a swimming pool for adults. All the attractions in this group also work with natural spring water from the Comal River.
The new section of Blastenhoff is home to many fun rides, including the six-story Master Blaster water slide. To see the whole park from the comfort of your tube, go up The Falls. The white water slide is 3,600 meters long, making it the longest water park in the world.
Their website says that access to the Mediterranean Sea is included in the price of admission to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, but we want to think otherwise. The Bahaman Blaster launches riders at an 80-degree angle to reach speeds of up to 40 mph as they tumble six stories. The Twister-style slide descends into darkness, while the Tornado passengers begin to travel through the enclosed slide before shooting up a ramp where they turn around and end up on a four-sided tube ride.

The Kalahari Resort and Convention Center in Round Rock bills itself as “the largest indoor theme park in the United States.” The African safari water park has 2,500,000 square feet of water rides, including the Screaming Hyena, which sends thrill-seekers down a 200-foot slide across the roof of the water park; Tanzania Twist – Known for twisting bodies at 40 mph; and Kenya Korkscrew, where visitors ride a tandem raft up a spiral tube.
Daytime classes are available, but overnight guests at the 975-room resort can enter the park for free.
Does it look like it will rain on the day you plan to go to the water park? Bad weather doesn’t spoil the fun at Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine. The indoor park attracts visitors of all ages with its many pools, slides, and roller coasters. For those who don’t want to spend all day in the water, the resort also offers land-based attractions such as a slide, arcade, life-style games, and a story.
At 80,000 square feet, this water park is one of the smallest on the list, but it’s a great option for families with children who don’t want to spend all day in the water.

Adrenaline lovers, this is your place. Arlington Water Park has it all: water slides, black and white indoor water slides, free admission, zip lines and zero gravity slides. There’s also the Mega Wedgie, an 83-foot-long half pipe that riders ride up and down its walls at speeds of up to 23 miles per hour.
Those who want a more relaxing experience can spend time in the lazy river, million-gallon wave pool, or giant pool.
Located between Dallas and Fort Worth, NRH20 offers rides for all levels of thrill seekers. Little swimmers head to the Tadpole Swimming Hall or spend most of the day at Frogstein’s Splashatory, a five-level interactive play area. Those looking to get their heart rate up, head to the Extreme Green, the 81-foot water slide and the 61-foot Sidewinder drop.
This city park also hosts movie nights in the summer. It is also one of the cheapest water parks in Texas. Weekly admission for children is less than $20 and, like the Schlitterbahn, the park allows visitors to bring snacks and non-alcoholic beverages.
