How To Know My Mac Foundation Shade

How To Know My Mac Foundation Shade – is a website that uses science, technology, and engineering math to find critical matches. But is it effective? Let’s talk about it.

UPDATE October 1, 2022: I don’t know how to feel about this site anymore. Every time I visit in the last few months my games are different. They seem to have a hard time figuring out the scientific method they use.

How To Choose Foundation For Dark Skin Tones

We can all relate to having a hard time finding a base combination, so I wanted to share this site I found. This is similar to the shade matching system that Sephora has on their website. You put in a shade that you feel matches, and they tell you what other shades you can try.

The way this website claims to be different from other shade-matching tools is because they use science to evaluate colors and are then verified by a makeup artist. They list exact, ideal, and best possible matches. To show my experience, I show you an “exactly matching” result. Since I started using MAC Studio Fix Fluid** in the summer of 2020, I have been very happy with the shade combination, so I used it as a starting point.

The website gave me shade 4W4 Hazel in the Estee Lauder Double Wear formula** as an exact shade match. I love dual wear and have been using the 5W1 and 5W2 shades for a long time. I find 5W1 my best match but it’s not obvious and 5W2 always looks orange but works best for me in the summer. With the 5W1 so close to me, I never imagined I could get away with something in range 4. I was very skeptical, but I gave it a try and it actually worked fine for me.

Personally, I wouldn’t call these colors an exact match, but the website helped me find another color combination (in Estee Lauder Double Wear**) that I wouldn’t have tried otherwise. As you can see in the photos above, when I apply them to my face, Estee Lauder 4W4 and MAC C8 are the same. MAC Studio Fix Fluid** in C8 is darker and I’m not sure it shows up in the photo, but in person Estee Lauder 4W4 looks more yellow. But if you look closely at the samples, you will see that they have some differences. How these differences work for each person will certainly vary.

I tried the other results the site gave me, but in my opinion they should call all possible good or best matches. None of my “exact matches” are exact in my opinion. However, after applying it to my face, I would definitely agree that they are an “ideal match”. There are no signs that it is not working at all. Nurse Moorea**

It also comes up as an exact match to the MAC C8, but I feel like it’s too dark. Tahoe Nurse**

, on the other hand, is listed as an “ideal match” and I really like how this shade looks on me. I am considering Tahoe (in the Nars Natural Radiant Longwear formula**

) to be one of my best shadow plays. I would also like to point out that C8 is deeper than my actual skin tone, but since the undertone is so even, it is not noticeable. So if you are darker than me you can use C8.

UPDATE March 16, 2022: It looks like the matchmymakeup website has updated their match terminology. When I use the site now, the only options it lists are good and optimal. I have a small website, but I can’t help but wonder if you read my review 🤔. Probably not, but it would be great 😄.

They also have a test style feature to help you find a shade if you’re starting from scratch. He uses his phone’s camera and asks you a few questions based on what he sees. I personally didn’t find this tool useful, I didn’t get a correct color using it.

So there you are. It will work? Above all, I think it can. But we refer to their matching terminology differently.

Basically, it’s a good reference point. At least for me, this tool is extremely valuable because I always choose shades that are too dark. This site has definitely helped me get into the right depth when buying foundations. I’m Nikki, a makeup lover who’s passionate about helping you spend your beauty budget wisely. I am 40 years old and have dry and sensitive skin prone to eczema. My closest foundation match is Estee Lauder Double Wear 4W4 Hazel. Aren’t we all obsessed with MAC? Their endless limited-edition collections, multiple shades, and classic matte black packaging are enough to drive any beauty nerd crazy.

However, MAC can be intimidating for anyone new to the brand, so I wrote this post in an attempt to clear up any confusion you may have about MAC. Here’s a complete guide to understanding how MAC codes their foundations and the different textures and finishes of lipsticks and eyeshadows. MAC can be confusing for beginners, especially since they have so many products, but I hope after reading this you can walk into any MAC store with confidence instead of confusion.

This can be very confusing for MAC newbies. I’m far from an expert, so if you need help finding a match, go to the nearest MAC counter and they’ll match you to the best of their ability. I advise you to also try to find a game, especially in natural light. My experience with MAC artists is that they can sometimes pair you with shades that are too dark for you, which can appear orange in natural light. MAC is usually good with samples too, so if you’re not sure, ask for a sample of your nearest shade.

By now you may have noticed that MAC encodes its bases in 2 ways. At the beginning of the code is NC or NW, or sometimes just C and W, followed by a number. First, I’ll explain the lyrics to the best of my ability. This refers to your skin tones, and this is where most people get confused. In general, we say that warm skin has yellow undertones and cool skin has pink undertones. For some reason, it gets mixed up with MAC. I’ve heard a few different definitions for this code, but the general theories seem to be that it stands for “Cold Neutralize” or “Cold Neutral” (NC), which is skin with yellow undertones, and “Warm Neutralize” or “Neutral”. Cnynes” (NW), meaning a rosy skin color. The way I like to remember it is “Not Cool” and “Not Warm”.

If you’re unsure of your nuances, there are plenty of great guides to solving them online. Some of my favorites are here, here, and here. However, you must follow these instructions with a pinch of salt, because some people’s skin does not follow the instructions and you may show signs of one undertone, when in fact there is another.

Now to the numbers. It is actually very easy to understand. The higher the number, the darker the color. Simple as that. The numbers usually start at NC15 and go up to 5. However, there are NC13 and other odd numbers, which usually indicate that the tone is more of a neutral tone than cool or warm. Most of us are paler Irish girls around the 15/20 mark, except for you lucky tanned girls (or guys!).

If you know your undertone and how dark your skin is, determining your undertone is easy. I am NC15, but I have mixed different shades in the past and it took me a while to figure out exactly what shade I am with what foundations. Here again things get confusing. not all shades
