A leaf-type indoor TV antenna will not work without an internal VHF element to receive VHF channels.
But remember, UHF is currently king in the world of digital weather signals. Stations currently in the VHF band will have to switch to UHF if they switch to NextGen TV in the next two years.
Are there broadcast towers 30 miles or more? Do most local broadcast stations broadcast on the UHF band?
